Whether you’re a designer, desk jockey, socialite, or student you’ll probably be looking for a place to grab a beer (or ten) tomorrow. Despite this celebration of everything Irish-ish falling on a Tuesday there is still plenty of opportunity to sing, dance, wear appalling amounts of green and generally sham-rock your face off. Here are a few options from the numerous St. Patrick’s Day celebrations happening around the city with a little more than just green dye on offer.

St. Paddy’s at the Palomino

Live music noon to night with El Dorado, Spencer Jo, Special Edisons, Peter & the Wolves, and Kent McAlister. Show is upstairs. No cover.

St. Patrick’s Day at Jamesons Irish Pubs

Start like the Irish do… at 10am with a $5 Irish breakfast and keep it up all day with Irish dancers, pipers, live music, and limerick contests

St. Patrick’s Day 2015 at James Joyce Irish Pub

St. Patrick’s Day at Ship and Anchor

St. Patrick’s Day at the Shamrock Hotel

If you’re seeking an old-timey vibe, this 1914 heritage hotel in Ramsay (apparently Calgary’s oldest live music venue) is famous for its St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. There will be a variety of performers including Calgary Firefighters Pipe Band and the Shamrock Irish Dancers.

The Irish Cultural Society’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

If you’re going for authenticity you can hang with the actual Irish of Calgary at the Irish Cultural Society’s pub. There are music and performances from 5pm-midnight including Tara O’Sullivan Band, the Bow Valley Fiddlers, and the ICS choir. Admission is $5 for ICS members and $10 for nonmembers.

St. Patrick’s Day at Bottlescrew Bills

Boasting Calgary’s largest selection of beer this bar offers the opportunity to book your own St. Patrick’s day party. Live bands from 11am-midnight. $5 cover after 7pm.
