Resilient Form: Urban Design in a Dynamic Context

Nandor Gortva | Graduate Student Researcher (MEDes)

Bev Sandalack | Faculty Supervisor

Three qualities of resilient systems – diversity, connectivity, and redundancy – are used to develop resilient configurations of urban form and landscape structure. The insights from this project are applied in an alternative design scenario for an existing suburban development in Calgary. This application demonstrates how the approach can be used in urban design practice.
